Hill Country Memorial will host a free ear, nose and throat (ENT) health presentation on Tues., May 10 at Nacho’s Café in Mason. A complimentary dinner will be provided at 6:00 p.m., with a presentation to follow. Nacho’s Café is located at 621 Fort McKavit St. Those concerned about adult or pediatric ENT health issues are invited to meet HCM ENT specialist, Tracy Byerly, MD, and family nurse practitioner Carrie Culpepper.
Charles Evans Hughes Pluenneke Charles Evans Hughes Pluenneke was born on June 24th, 1932, and passed from this life on Tuesday, April 26, 2016, at the age of 83. He was born to Charles Conrad Pluenneke and Florence Nettie Geistweidt in Fredericksburg, Texas. He was a lifetime member of the First United Methodist Church in Mason, Texas.
Jesse Carraway Jesse James Carraway of Mason passed away on Wednesday, April 27, at the age of 84. Survivors include a son Randy Carraway of Mason and a daughter Missy Carlile of Reno, Nevada, grandchildren Jesse Walker Carraway, Cody Terry and Tanya Terry, nieces and nephews: Rene Robbins, Rebecca Estes and Terry Makowsky, great nieces and nephews Jennifer Bankston, Rheannon Wartenbach and Daniel, Monty and Matthew Makowsky.
Mary Lou Lange Mary Lou Lange, of Mason, passed away on Wednesday, April 27, at the age of 88. Mary Lou was born on September 15, 1927, in Mason to Edgar Leifeste Sr. and Emma Eula Shafer Leifeste. She was a graduate of Mason High School and a life-long resident of Mason County where she was a member of the First Baptist Church. On October 26, 1946, Mary Lou married Melvin B.
Patricia Dell Martin Pike Patricia Dell Martin Pike entered eternal peace and rest on April 29, 2016. Patricia was born on May 6, 1940 to Arthur Edward Martin and Adele Owen Henderson Martin, both of San Antonio, Texas. She graduated from Brackenridge High School where she was a member of the Purple Jackets and the National Honor Society. She married Norman R.
Virginia Gray Virginia A. “Ginger” Gray, 86, of San Angelo, formerly of Brady, passed away Friday, April 29, 2016, in San Angelo. A celebration of life will be held Monday, May 9, at 1:30 p.m. at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Brady with reception to follow in the church’s Education Building. Virginia Anne Miller was born July 28, 1929, in Webster Grove, MO, to W.H.
Mason County 4-H Shooting Sports Club traveled to Brownwood on April 16 for the Brownwood Extravaganza. The club is sponsored by the Texas Agrilife Extension Service and many local sponsors who contribute to the club to purchase equipment and supplies for the students. Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service and Mason Head Start teamed up this spring to teach our community youngster about plants and nutrition! After 4 weeks of focused “Grow It, Try It, Like It” lessons, we are sure to have little master gardeners and fruit and veggie experts living in our county!
It’s that time of year again! Time to renew your community band calendar. This year we unfortunately are having to increase our price a little bit. After years of seeing the production costs rise and our profit margin shrink we have decided to increase the price on the calendars. This year the calendars will cost $10 each.
We invite the entire community to visit our Book Fair in the Mason Elementary/Jr. High Library. You will get the chance to purchase best sellers, Newbery and Caldecott Medal-winning books, chapter books, picture books and hundreds of other items only available at the Scholastic Book Fair. We also invite you to support the “Give the Gift of Reading” program at the Book Fair.
