Since 1983, April has been designated as Child Abuse Prevention Month to raise awareness of the pervasiveness of child abuse/neglect and to promote the safety and well-being of all children. Children are the next generation of leaders and brightest rays of hope for the future. All children deserve to grow up in a nurturing environment free from harm and fear.

On Tuesday, March 26, 2019 Riata’s monthly membership meeting was held at the M. Bevan Eckert Memorial Library. Hostesses were Pam Scott, Carol Jean Reardon and Nan Larrimore, who prepared delicious pastries. This month’s theme was “A Special Tea Party” honoring five charter members; Doris Grote, Carolyn Smith, Blan Zesch, Patsy Ziriax and Minnie Schmidt.
ger/apr 17 mason tennis digital pics on ger Mason Sweeps District 27 2A Tennis By: Coach Cade Smith On Monday, April 1st Mason hosted the district 27 2A tennis tournament that included Center Point, Junction, San Saba and Mason. Mason earned 1st and 2nd in every varsity division qualifying all 16 entries to the Regional Tournament.
Lisa Ruthven was the guest speaker at the Mason Study Club meeting held on March 27th. Lisa, owner of Murphy Creek Cellars, gave members interesting information about the wine industry in Mason County, including the development, growth and future of the vineyards and local wineries. Lisa also mentioned that Texas is the second largest AVA (American Viticultural Area) in the United States with over nine million acres dedicated to wine growing.
Boss Lion Marty Bentson opened the April 9 meeting of the Mason Lions Club by presenting membership awards to Lion Jim Heidelberg, Lion Michael Cope, and Lion Ken Cordero. Boss Lion also presented to Lion Jim Heidelberg the Lion’s Presidential Service Award for outstanding service to the Lion’s Club. Our guests included Mrs.
With the rain that fell last weekend and the wonderful weather we are having this week, the wildflowers and green tree leaves are even more spring-like this week. The visitors to Mason are thrilled with the fields and roadsides full of wildflowers, and I hope that each of you have taken some time to drive around the County and see how beautifully the Master Artist has colored our landscape.
The Mason Youth Baseball & Softball Association kicked off the 2019 Season with Opening Day held on Saturday, March 23rd. We would like to thank all of those involved in making Opening Day a success! Opening pitches were thrown by Mason’s very own Jessie Armstrong and Mickey Nail. A special thank you to Arett Gentry for her beautiful performance of the National Anthem.

The Board of Trustees of MISD met for their regular meeting on March 25, 2019 at the MISD Administration Office. Board President Jeff Durst called the meeting to order at 6:00 pm with members Jim Bob Smith, Julio Ramon, Tina Cantu-Navarro, Ryan Jordan, Treg Hudson and Kathryn Martin in attendance.
