The 2018 winners of the Mason Bank Bonus Bucks "Shop at Home" promotion were awarded their cash prizes last week. Lion president Marty Bentson opened the January 8 meeting of the Mason Lions Club. Lion Charlie Reichenau introduced the guest speaker, Bart Mason, who grew up in Post, Texas. C.W. Post (of Post Toasties, Post Grape Nuts, and Postum fame) founded the city in about 1907 as an idyllic town. We are already at mid-January and most of the people I talk with are still trying to get started with the new year. The weather is definitely “winter in Texas” with cold temperatures near freezing part of the week and a spring-like 70’s a few days later. One of the issues we are dealing with in the City office is answering questions about electric billings from people that do not understand why their bill is so high, and we are trying to let them know the facts.

SAN ANGELO, TX (01/07/2019)-- Margaret Hannah Haley of Mason received a Bachelor of Science in Sociology, during the 2018 Fall commencement exercises at Angelo State University. Angelo State conferred 599 undergraduate and graduate degrees on 592 graduates on Saturday, Dec. 15, 2018. Angelo State University, founded in 1928, is a thriving four-year public school in Texas.
