The Father in the Mirror
My dad has been dead since 1979. But I saw him this morning!
Head tilted forward emphasizing the dewlap under his chin, looking down at me over that slightly elongated nose with those distinctive Birk brown eyes -- it was him all right. No question about it.

A Quiet Week in Lake Wobegon?...
It is ironic that author/broadcasting legend Garrison Keillor’s mythical hometown of Lake Wobegon is only an hour’s “crow fly” journey from Minneapolis.
I saunter in where angels fear to tread--this needless mixing make believe with reality in the same paint can--but serious news folks do so all the time, so why not?

Frozen Wedding Punch
This being June and the month of Matrimony, it brings back memories of weddings and showers. This was before cucumber water, bird seeds and bubbles. We drank sugary punch and threw rice at the newlyweds.

Happy Father’s Day to all the fathers out there. Since I received no reply to my question, “What do you want to do for Father’s Day?”, we will proceed as normal.
Summer is officially here June 20. Maybe I should ask what he wants to do to celebrate summer.
There will be no class meeting this week.
How Quickly People Get Out of Control and Angry!
Last week, the country got angry. People got angry at the death of George Floyd. Protests turned into riots, because people got even angrier. Then people got angry at the riots, and they raised their voices trying to drown out the protesters, even though those hadn't been the people shouting.
Speaking Up
It seems the same question, phrased multiple ways, is floating around Mason – Why bring controversy to my nice little town? The simple answer is Mason isn’t a bubble.
With TV as my window to the world, I grew up in the sixties watching US citizens demand their equal rights.
Just, Wow!
Today in Mason, Texas, population 2,100+, I was part of a protest. I and a surprising number of my friends and neighbors. We had signs. We had enthusiasm. And most importantly, we had right on our side.
We held our signs asking for Peace. Justice. Mercy. For people to just Care.
