Letter to the Editor:
I was surprised and saddened by the meanness, intimidation, shouting, and hand gestures used by some attendees at the recent Town Hall hosted by Democratic Representative Erin Zwiener.  The lack of respect toward a pastor, whom the majority of the room disagreed with, was stunningly rude.  Church-goers, would you want your pastor treated this way?  Where was the civility?  The manners?  Almost everyone in attendance was old enough to remember when Americans could agree to disagree with ...
By Pastor Steve Sanchez THIS WILL BE MY LAST ARTICLE FOR THIS FINE PAPER. After four years of writing this weekly column, it’s time to move on. There are some changes happening that I think will be of great benefit to the Johnson City Record Courier. I want to thank y’all for allowing me to voice a pastor’s perspective on living the Christian life between Sundays.
LETTER TO THE EDITOR:
In his seminal book, The Population Bomb, written in the 1960’s, Paul Ehrlich described the future, with over-population as the root causes of global warming, with rising sea levels, and concomitant increase in both the number and the severity of storms worldwide, being one of the results. He also predicted famine, drought, and mass migrations of people from poorer regions to richer.

On January 11, 2018, the Department of Education issued findings that Texas had violated federal law by capping the number of students eligible for special education. On November 7, 2018, the 5th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals found that over multiple years, Texas had violated another federal law which prohibits the reduction of special education funding from one year to the next.
Five Blanco County landowners recently met with Blanco County Judge Brett Bray to express concerns about economic and environmental impacts of the Permian Highway Pipeline, which is slated to cross Blanco County. One of this group, who has worked in the oil and gas pipeline industry, stated it’s common industry practice to complete a variety of studies when pipeline routes cross high-risk areas, such as population centers and water resources.
LETTER TO THE EDITOR:
As we travel through this amazing journey of life, we never truly know the difference we may be making on the lives of others. I just received heartbreaking news that Bunny Becker passed away today from cancer. I wanted you to know she make a difference in my life You likely know Bunny because she and her husband, Dr.
LETTER TO THE EDITOR:
On June 30th, our car was one of 100+ damaged by road conditions created by TXDOT on RR-1631, east of Fredericksburg. The situation defies description but I believe the problem was caused by a combination of equipment malfunction and gross incompetence. As result of our car damage, I filed a claim with TXDOT and waited.
After eight months of reviewing all the comments on the proposed pipeline route through our country, I wanted to express my views as someone who works in the energy industry. My family has been residents of Llano and Blanco counties since 1957. I respect all views. My career has been 37 years in counter terrorism and safety for all Military, Corps of Engineers agencies dealing with national security, and safety including mining and pipeline infrastructure.
Hindsights by Michael Barr A scarcity of supplies was a big problem on the Texas frontier, especially during the Civil War when Union gunboats blockaded the gulf coast keeping goods from coming in through normal channels. A shortage of gun caps was a major predicament until Engelbert Krauskopf and his partner Adolf Lungkwitz perfected a process for making gun caps at Krauskopf’s workshop in Fredericksburg, Engelbert Krauskopf was born on August 21, 1820 in Bendorf on the Rhine River nea ...
July 2019 marks the 50th anniversary of the first earthlings to set foot on the moon. The occasion has brought to mind some fond memories: In 1952, after viewing a black and white science fiction movie about the first men to the moon, I asked my oldest brother if he thought man would really ever be able to go to the moon.
