First responders in Johnson City got a treat last week when children from the First United Methodist Church knocked on their doors, bearing hand-made thank-you cards and kid-made chocolate chip cookies.
They had learned how the sheriff, police, firefighters, EMS and game warden work together to protect and rescue them and their families, so the kids were there to make sure their protectors knew their work was appreciated.

Polo has a reputation as an obscure sport played by highfalutin Easterners with time on their hands. Many Texans, myself included, have never seen a polo game and don’t know a chukka from a tail shot. And yet a unique set of circumstances made polo, for a time, a popular sport in Fredericksburg and the Texas Hill Country.
Polo began in the Middle East and spread to Europe in the 19th Century.
The Albert Community Club will hold its annual barbecue and fundraiser on Saturday, July 29, 2017 at the Williams Creek School Building in Albert, Texas.
