LAMPASAS—The Lampasas County Chamber of Commerce & Visitor Center will be hosting the 9th Annual Lampasas Wine Tour Saturday, September 28. The tour will feature stops and tastings at several wineries in the area, along with a day filled with fun for everyone. The day will start with breakfast at the Chamber of Commerce at 8:00 a.m.

To my way of thinking, the use of feeders to attract and hold deer and other game is a very good thing; in Texas it is almost a must. We hunters joke that if we don’t use supplemental feeding as a tool to attract game, our neighbor across the fence will.
On Tuesday, August 20, a Burnet County jury found Defendant Allan Wayne Hawley of Cottonwood Shores guilty of Evading Arrest with a Motor Vehicle. Judge Allan Garrett then sentenced Hawley to 55 years in prison in accordance with the jury’s assessment of punishment. The jury further found that the defendant used a motor vehicle as a deadly weapon in the commission of the crime, which means he must be incarcerated at least half of his sentence before he is eligible for parole. GRANITE SHOALS—On August 25, Granite Shoals Police Officers responded to the report of a Burglary of a Habitation in the 100 block of W. Granite Castle. On arrival, the victims worked with officers to identify items taken from their secondary residence. During the investigation at the scene, one officer recalled a traffic stop that he conducted less than 24 hours before with items being described by the victim as missing, inside the vehicle of the earlier traffic stop.
An unauthorized spill of wastewater occurred from Kingsland Municipal Utility District with an estimated date of the spill being July 27. As of August 6, it is estimated that 50,000 gallons of waste was spilled. The description of the area affected is downstream of the Llano River to Wirtz Dam.
The City Council will hold a public hearing on Tuesday, September 3 on the proposed 2019-2020 City Budget. They are proposing a tax rate of $0.68737 per $100. The proposed budget will raise more total taxes than last year’s budget by $29,938.44. That is a three percent increase. Of that amount, $16,434 is tax revenue to be raised from new property added to the roll this year. Javier Reyes outlined the current health plan for the City of Llano employees.
On Saturday, August 17, the Llano Lions Club held their first Sporting Clays for a Cause event fundraiser at Ink’s Ranch. The hidden gem is located just 13 miles southwest of Llano and is rich with history and natural beauty. Though the ranch is private, the Inks family partnered with the Llano Lions Club for the event.
Ag-Pro from Fredericksburg had a ribbon cutting with the Llano Chamber of Commerce on Tuesday at the Depot Garden.
