Rickey Oestreich, foreman of the Llano Parks Department, was named the city’s employee of the quarter for the second quarter of 2016. He was presented the award at Monday’s city council meeting. 
It was week four of summer camp and 400 campers were in camp, but the five from the Llano troop were the best. Earlier this month five Llano Boy Scouts and three adult leaders spent a week at Lost Pines Scout Reservation near Bastrop. The main goal was to have fun, but also to earn badges and learn new life skills. The Llano troop hadn’t won a blue ribbon in living memory.
This past Saturday was a big day for the Llano Red Top Jail, beginning at 10 a.m. with tours of Llano’s oldest bed and breakfast. Manned 100 percent by volunteers from the Friends of the Llano Red Top Jail, the tours take about 20-30 minutes depending on the participation from those taking the tour. From the “booking room” to the “throne room,” to the “maximum security cells,” the Red Top Jail is full of history.
The Llano Economic Development Corporation could look at the feasibility of a second arena or an amphitheater among projects in the next fiscal year. The Llano City Council on Monday approved the first reading of the LEDC’s budget for the 2016-17 fiscal year. The projection is for a $296,119 budget in the next fiscal year.

Joe Randerson served in the United States Air Force in World War II, in the 2nd Fighter Squadron. “I flew P51 Mustangs. Forty-nine missions in all by the time the war ended,” he said. “On my 17th mission, I was shot down over Yugoslavia with burns to 40 percent of my body.” Randerson has not been in a P51 since 1949.
The Llano County Sheriff's Office reports that a drive by shooting occurred Wednesday morning. At about 8:44 a.m., a residence on RR 2323 approximately 4 miles west of the Llano city limits was fired upon multiple times by an individual or individuals, according to a LCSO press release. It is believed that the suspect(s) were traveling in a vehicle when the shots were fired and a resident was home at the time of the incident. There will be a four class Llano High School reunion held Saturday. The LHS classes of 1950, 1951, 1952 and 1953, along with anyone who wishes to join them, will meet at 10 a.m. Saturday, July 16, at the LISD community building. The group will meet, have a barbecue lunch, tour the O’Henry school building and dismiss about 2:30 p.m., said Lane Tow, co-organizer of the reunion.
