Progress on the American Legion Post 370 in Llano is slowly being made as funds dribble in to go towards repairing the extensive flood damage done to the property. The money received goes immediately towards needed electrical work, reworking the air conditioning units, outer wall insulation, etc.  The reconstruction plans include building a new office dedicated to the County's Veteran Service Officer, Mike Sandoval.
Llano County Officials, including District Attorney, Sonny McAfee, Llano County Attorney Rebecca Lang, Llano County Sheriff Bill Blackburn, Llano PD Mike Scoggins, Sunrise Beach Police Chief Lori Brock, Horseshoe Bay PD Rocky Wardlow, signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the Hill Country Children’s Advocacy Center. The agreement acknowledges the importance of the multidisciplinary approach as the core of the CAC model.
There are so many new things happening in Llano that are good for the community and it is getting recognized all over the state. We have had visitors from all regions of Texas the past few weeks, many coming to see our beautiful wildflowers that seem to get better the closer they get to Llano, and many for our events.
Last week was a big week for the debris crew as they finished clearing the footprint of the bridge. The final obstruction that was at bent 12, drill shaft 1201, was removed.  The final outer casing was set at shaft 1201 on Thursday, March 25.    This week, the project team continues to pour the traffic rail on the bridge deck and has completed bent 11 drill shafts.  Bent 11 columns were poured on Monday, April 1 and all the casings are set in the remaining 6 shafts in the water.  Bent ...
And the four are gone. First it was Jarrett Vickers, then Craig Slaughter, followed by Bobby Williams, and now Clint Easley is putting aside football, but not Llano ISD. That group was led to the gridiron here by Slaughter, the Head Coach, in 2012. “It’s been on my mind for several years,” said Easley, the defensive coordinator.
Know Where to Cast Your Vote
General Elections for the City of Llano are held in May each year.  Mayor and two Council Member seats are elected in odd years, and three Council Member seats are elected in even years. This year, a special election will be held for a one-year term Council seat. Early voting will take place April 22-30 of 2019, with election day on May 4 from 7 a.m.
On, Monday, March 25, Commissioner Mike Sandoval, Pct. 3, brought forth a resolution to rename the new TxDOT Bridge on RR 2900 in Kingsland. This is the new bridge over the Llano River that replaces the bridge that was washed away in the flood on October 16, 2018. The resolution suggests that the bridge honor David and Pat Enloe for all of their contributions to Kingsland and the Aqua Boom.
The City of Llano welcomes their new Director of Community Development, Tony Guidroz. “I’m excited,” said Guidroz. “I asked God to give me the desires of my heart and He put me in Llano, Texas.” Guidroz was born and raised in Opelousas, Louisiana, right in the heart of Cajun country. Him and his wife Debra have been married for almost 25 years.
Meet the four who are running for a 2-year term Council Member seat in 2019. Kara Gilliland Kara Gilliland was born and raised in Llano and is the daughter of Larry and Deborah Miller. Gilliland graduated from Llano High School in 1998. “I have been married to the love of my life and high school sweetheart, David Gilliland for 16 years,” said Gilliland.
The Llano County Commissioners met in a special emergency meeting on Friday, January 4, to address the accounts payable and the new vehicles ordered. This is the first public meeting of the Commissioners Court that Judge Ron Cunningham has presided over since he was sworn into office on January 1, 2019. Auditor Cindy Lent stated there was a short list of bills that needed to be paid at this time.
