The members of American Legion Fort Mason Post #285 & Ladies Auxiliary invite other veterans, friends and family, and anyone interested in the American Legion to attend our regular monthly meeting to be held at 6:30 pm Thursday June 14, 2018 at the American Legion Post Hall on Post Hill Road (behind the Jail). Samuel Shelton, a visiting artist from Meridian, Texas will demonstrate master painting techniques Saturday morning June 2, beginning at 10:00, in the Stribling Room, Mason Public Library. For the demonstration, the artist says he will “be adding color to a portrait gray scale under-painting. The Odeon Summer Concerts lineup is set and will kick off June 16 with the Guy Forsyth Band. Show time is 7:00 PM and tickets are $20 per person. Guy Forsyth is an award-winning blues musician with gripping, powerful vocals who delivers energetic yarns about love, the government, and the apocalypse, to name just a few.
Enrollment for the 2018 Summer Program is underway for Kingdom Kids, River of Life’s Mom’s Day Out program. Kingdom Kids mission is to provide a loving, Christ-centered environment where children are nurtured and mother’s needs are met. Summer activities for children ages 3 months to 5th grade include age appropriate Bible stories, music time, crafts, baking, and recreation time. This summer we will be offering (2) three week sessions for ages 3 months – 5th grade.
Hill Country Astronomers (HCA) will meet at 6:30 p.m., Monday, June 4, in the HEB activity room at Hill Country University Center in Fredericksburg. Club member Mark Ward will present a summer preview of the outer planets – Jupiter, Saturn, and Mars – all of which have favorable oppositions this year. He will talk about when they are their best, and what one might expect to see.
Local photo historian Don Day will present a new program in the Stribling Room of the Mason Co. M. Beven Eckert Memorial Library, 410 Post Hill Street, on June 5 at 6:00. This was another blessed week. It rained. My gauge had almost half an inch. The wind was blowing so hard, I don’t think much went in the gauge. Several people at church reported more rain, but they also had hail. Grandkids picked up lots of sticks, and Scott came over to mow grass.
