Country Entertainer Doug Stone will headline the Llano Country Opry’s 19th Anniversary Show on Saturday, April 14, at the Lantex Theater in Llano, Texas. Doug Stone was born in Newnan, Georgia and began learning guitar at the age 5 from his mother who was an avid singer and guitarist.

The Mason County Historical Commission will be holding its annual symposium this coming Sunday afternoon at 2:00 p.m. at the Odeon Theater. The topic this year is : “Herman Lehmann: Indian or Anglo?”
MCHC member Scott Zesch will be the MC for the program. A film (originally made in German) will be shown in its English version.
“Amazing Women: 4 German Girls, 25,000+ Miles, 18 Months, 0 Money” is a movie waiting to be made. The story details the odyssey of Sigrid Carter and her three life-long friends who, in their twenties in 1964, journeyed from Colorado to Central and South America traveling, as the title states, over 25,000 miles in 18 months with no money.
The Mason Farmers Market will open April 21 and return every Saturday evening, 5 to 7 p.m., until mid-July. A diverse group of vendors this year will offer pasture-raised meats, organic vegetables, artisan breads, Mexican specialties, cosmetics and canned goods at booths ringing the shady area between Mason Burger and Mason County News office on the east side of the Square.

We are Hill Country Cattlewomen, non-profit organization, and hold various fundraisers to award scholarships, promote beef education and much more. Because of this , we have posted information at no charge in the past.

The Castell Area Wildlife Management Association will be hosting a pot luck meeting on Saturday, April 14, 2018 at 12:00 noon at the Trinity Methodist Church Fellowship Hall in Castell, TX. The CA WMA invites anyone to attend who is interested in meeting their neighbors and fellow hunters as well as anyone interested in wildlife management practices.
The Blumberg-Elley-Kaiser-Koepsel Family Reunion (descendants of Carl F. Blumberg and Kathrine Ruff and their 7 children - Julius F. Blumberg, Albertine "Bertha" Blumberg Kaiser, August Blumberg, Henriette Blumberg Elley (von Elterlein), Fritz A. Blumberg, Ernest Blumberg, Hulda Blumberg Koepsel) will be held on April 21st at the McQueeney Lions Club.
The Blumbergs immigrated from Germany to Texas via the port of Indianola (near Port Lavaca, TX) in the 1840s.
