The Mason Tennis Association’s 15th annual Tennis-A-Thon will take place on the afternoon of Sunday, March 20th, at the Mason Tennis Center. This fundraiser helps improve our tennis center.
The tennis playing youth of our community are taking part in this event by participating in tennis drills, games and competitions for 1 1/2 hours, and by obtaining sponsors who pledge a certain amount of money for each minute the participant’s team plays tennis.

On March 2, 1836, the colonists of Mexican Texas issued a Declaration of Independence from Mexican authority, oversight and oppression. By doing so, they created The Republic of Texas, and cemented their place in the history books.
Those early colonists had come from many different places.

The funeral service was much like many of the hundreds I attended in the century just past. The old parson--officiating in the country church--made the identical statement six times. “We won’t need any undertakers in heaven.”
Each time, I glanced at the late Groner Pitts, funeral director at the service and best man at the wedding for Brenda and me almost 50 years ago.

The Mason Hospital Facilities Board is in need of several people to serve on the Facilities Board due to the expiration of terms, relocations and other factors. The Board oversees the Mason Clinic Property which includes the clinic building currently occupied by Frontera Clinic and the Annex building, currently occupied by a home health agency.
For the third consecutive year, the Mason Junior High won the UIL Academic District competition held in San Saba. On January 19, 2016, led by an outstanding eighth grade class, Mason won the meet by nearly 200 points. Individual placings, coupled with the overall strength of Mason’s teams, resulted in this victory, followed by San Saba, Junction, Harper, Johnson City and Center Point, respectively.
