Gordon G. Airheart, age 77, of Mason, Texas, passed away Friday, January 15, 2016, in Brownwood, Texas.
He was born December 24, 1938, in Mason, Texas, to Walter Chester “Check” Airheart & Ethel Isabelle (Wickliffe) Airheart.
He was a mechanic and worked for the Mason Independent School District for over 30 years.
During their first meeting of 2016, the City of Mason Commission discussed the ongoing negotiations concerning the interlocal agreement for law enforcement with the Mason County Sheriff's Department.
During an extensive discussion of the issue, the Commission members agreed that continuing to work with the County was in the best interest of the citizens of the City.

The Trustees of the Art United Methodist Church will meet tonight, January 20, to elect officers and plan their year.
Every spring the City has an election cycle for some portion of the City Commission, since each term of office is just two years and roughly half of the Commission is up for election each year. We are just beginning that process again with the first day a candidate can file for a place on the ballot being this week on January 20 and continuing for thirty days.

In honor of “National Soup-Swap Week” I thought I should share a soup recipe. This is a mixture of bacon, ham, potatoes and chicken broth that comes together to form a cheesy soup that will warm anybody up at lunch or dinner time. However, in our family potato soup is called Kartoffelsuppe.

For the New Year, the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) has released the top 10 worldwide fitness trends for 2016, and Hill Country Memorial Wellness Center Director Dawn Bourgeois said the local fitness and aquatic facility offers them all.
