On Thursday, August 8th, Maddy Heath & Shiloh Peaden addressed family members, members of the American Legion Fort Mason Post 285 and Auxiliary Unit 285, and other interested parties at the American Legion Post Hall. Maddy & Shiloh described their experiences to those present, including their campaigns for public office and their duties when elected.
The Mason County Historical Society’s annual meeting was held Saturday, August 3rd. The program led by Jeannie Berger was “Genealogy 101.” Ms. Berger is Hill Country native and descendant of four German immigrant families who settled in Gillespie and Mason Counties between 1845 and 1857. Ms. Berger, as a member of the Kerrville Genealogical Society, gave an in-depth workshop on tracing ancestors and a handout containing a long list of resources.

Boss Lion Michael Murphy gaveled the meeting to order at 12:30 p.m. at Nacho’s Café on Tuesday July 30. Guests were John Cook and Emma Canfield. Presenter this week was Lions Dale Henry who introduced our speaker Lion Dale Henry. Lion Dale is also our treasurer serving the second year of a life sentence.
Last month, Mason’s Scarlet Punchers, those intrepid women “of a certain age,” who absolutely insist on enjoying life to the fullest, thoroughly celebrated Christmas in July at the home of Rose Stein. We came, we saw, we ate, we ate some more, then we had yet another successful Chinese auction.
The July 15 City Commission meeting had a large outpouring of citizen interest, which is a great feature of Mason. We care deeply about the future of the community. We are small enough that most of of us know each other individually. In surveying the audience, I saw mostly people I know, and when I saw people who are not current friends of mine, I was able to see how we were connected. Boss Lion Michael Murphy gaveled the meeting to order at 12:30 PM at Nacho’s. The program Chair this week was Lion Jim Heidelberg. Lion Jim introduced two speakers; Lisa Goehmann and Lisa Heath. Lisa Goehmann spoke first and covered the Court Appointed Special Advocate Program (CASA). First, she thanked the Lions for their wonderful support every year.

These funds will be used to complete the Discovery Garden. The Garden was created within the last few months and is located in the shaded area behind the main building.
KERRVILLE, Texas (July 16, 2019) - Schreiner University has named qualified students to its President’s and Dean’s List. To be eligible for the President’s List, full-time students must earn at least a 4.0 grade point average for the term, passing all classes, and have at least 12 hours credit for the term.
