In June, I had the honor of participating in the Kakehashi Project, a youth exchange program funded by the Japanese International Cooperation Center sending four groups from across the United States to the island nation of Japan for ten days. At the September 3rd meeting of the Mason Lions Club, the program was presented by Lion J.D. Kidwell who, with Mason County M. Bevin Eckert Memorial Librarian, Patti Grote, provided an update on some of the recent activities that the Library has been engaged in over the last several months. Mr.
Each year, during certain months, there are activities and decisions that need attention. While most of the people of Mason see September as a time for the kids to go back to school and a time to enjoy the excitement of Friday night football, at the City and other local governmental groups we have another task.
On August 21, 2019, the United Way of the Concho Valley hosted their annual awards luncheon at the McNease Convention Center in San Angelo, Texas. Mason County was honored with the New Beginnings Award. The New Beginnings Award is presented to entities who’ve conducted a successful, first-time work place campaign. Mason County is proud to partner with the United Way of the Concho Valley in order to deliver hope to those in need.
Mason's much-hyped meeting with the Wall Hawks last Thursday saw the Punchers come up short against a tremendously talented and skilled team. Wall controlled the game for almost the entire evening. Only minutes into the first quarter, the Hawks scored, then added the conversion to lead 8-0. Only minutes of play later, Wall scored on a long run, and added the PAT to put the score at 15-0.
The Board of Trustees of MISD met for their regular meeting on August 26, 2019 at the MISD Administration Office. Board President Jeff Durst called the meeting to order at 6:00 pm with members Jim Bob Smith, Cole Farmer, Tina Cantu-Navarro, Ryan Jordan, Mary Donaldson and Kathryn Martin in attendance.
Mason High School was honored again on Thursday night with a Lone Star Cup Championship presented by the UIL and Farm Bureau. This is the second year for us to receive this honor. It is a culmination of all UIL activities based on a point system and very difficult to achieve.
