Gerry,
The Sovreign People of Mason, Texas, U.S.A. prevailed at the Mason City Council meeting on July 15, 2019.
The system of government that our forefathers established for us 243 years ago functioned the way it was designed to function.
Someone tried to pull a fast one and replace our good (and improving) landfill with an inferior transfer station.
Baguettes, the P.B. Way
The Practical Baker really enjoys experimenting in the kitchen. From taking tried and true recipes and altering them in different ways, to sometimes striking out and attempting to build something from scratch, I get a lot of pleasure in seeing how many different ways I can make a baked good!
We got off to a great start last week with our Lego Mania! It’s for children ages 4+ and runs from 1:00 P.M. -2:00 P.M. on Mondays through the summer. Carol Lampman supervises and gives each child a bag of random LEGO pieces to construct whatever they can dream up.
On the second day of our cruise I figured out how to take a shower onboard. Which was a good thing, according to my wife. She contends that this event occurred just before the ‘man overboard’ signal was about to be broadcast.
Not that I didn’t know how to shower. I’ve been doing it for years.
Our Daily Bread…
Assurance that “man does not live by bread alone” is provided in Matthew 4:4 of the Good Book.
It fails to address the possibility that we may die from ingesting it, however, so the U. S. Food and Drug Administration is doing its part, suggesting the recall of hamburger and hot dog buns sold recently that may contain pieces of sharp plastic.
There have been no further details as to ascertain origin of said pieces, but it’s easy to imagine that swallowing them co ...
I hope you are enjoying the wonderful days of summer. Somehow, these days were more fun when I was a child. Now, I face my yard that is quite crunchy as well as the many appointments for doctors and other health professionals that we face at my age. However, I really don’t want to get out in the heat and swim or sit around a campfire and sleep in a tent on vacation.

AROUND THE SQUARE
Time flies.
Whether or not you’re having fun.
Time has its own speed limit.
Which seems to increase as time passes.
When we’re 10, time drags on.
At 10 mph.
When we’re 30, it’s 30 mph.
And ramping up.
By 50, time’s zipping along at 50 mph.
And so forth.
I guess it makes sense that the eyesight goes.
Since it’s all a blur at 80 or 90.
Time rules.
Nature’s stopwatch.
Calling the shots.
Ready, set ...
I Love Our Folks.....
Last Saturday, as I drove to town, I worried that the signs we had put out in front of the office asking people to avoid parking in the spaces in front of the building might have been ignored. I knew that Lea Lou had a concert on Friday night, so I had carefully worded my signs, urging people to not park overnight, or on Saturday morning, in those spaces.

Old-Fashioned Fudge Sauce
Courtesy Liz Barnes (one of my twisted sisters)
My sister, Liz, lives and works in Kansas City (bless her heart!). She entertains her staff of teachers on a fairly regular basis, and recently used this sauce as an ice cream topping at one of their get-togethers. She shared the recipe with me, I want to share it with you, since it’s right down The Practical Baker’s alley: quick, easy and delicious!
Ingredients:
3 squares (one ounce each) of unsweetened b ...
