My Uncle Mort, a dedicated “frog gigger” during most of the 20th century and all the years so far in this one, claims to have made the best possible use of “Indian Summer.”
“It was the shortest season ever, limited to a few hours on November 24,” he mused.
Creole Sausage and Beans
Well its nearing the end of hunting season and football season….Now what are we going to watch on TV? Our family usually ends up making sausage this time of year. This recipe is excellent with venison or any other kind of sausage and a pretty inexpensive meal.

Sunday will be very busy. Shoe boxes for Mexico are due. Also, Angel Tree gifts are due. And, grandson Tanner will be baptized followed by a covered dish lunch after church.

I always hear folks complaining that there’s nothing to watch on television anymore. That, in spite of hundreds of channels on satellite and cable, the thousands of movies and television shows available for streaming and the things that are still put out by the old, reliable network that have been around for decades.
We end up watching the same channels, waiting for something better to finally show up in the schedule.
The Way We War
(December 7, 1941 - a day that "will live in infamy," and in my memory.)
My family escaped the tragedy and suffering of World War II. I was too young to serve in the armed forces. My father was too old. One uncle and a couple of cousins were in the service.
Now you have my permission to play Christmas music and put up the tree. I get upset when people get off season. November was the month for Thanksgiving. October was Halloween. No Christmas decorations should be in stores or home before December, the month for Christmas.

Chilies Rellenos Casserole
I thought we might need a little “South of the Border” to get past the rich Thanksgiving dishes. This is a great recipe when you have company coming. You can make this ahead time. I think you could even freeze it. Its one my favorite recipes my sister (Judy Lehmberg) makes.
