Quick and Easy Bread Sticks

As the name implies, these are quick and easy, and will be consumed by the dozens. They do require a bit of kneading, and they are a bit of a mess to make, but the results are well worth the clean-up!

1 ½ cups of self rising flour

Ever wondered why we don’t see as many horned toads as when we were kids? You can find out if you come to Jim Gallagher’s program Thursday, Dec. 12, at 6:30 P.M. He works for the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department at Mason Mountain Wildlife Management Area. He’ll be able to explain how the lizard became a threatened species and what, if anything, we can do to help restore this iconic species to the landscape
where it belongs.
We Give Thanks - Even In the Worst of Times!
Many families have a custom during Thanksgiving dinner of going around the table and sharing what each person is thankful for during the prior year. Often, it results in repetitive lists that include family, friends and good fortune. The recitation starts to sound the same from year to year, with only slight variations.
Similarly, the blessing of the Thanksgiving meal every year usually includes mention of the shared blessings of the gathered a ...
Mason's Scarlet Punchers, those intrepid women "of a certain age," who absolutely insist on enjoying life to the fullest, are having their annual not-to-be-missed Christmas party at the home of Mrs. Christmas herself, Mary Hemphill, on Monday, December 9th, at 11:00 AM until someone goes home in a huff or a sugar-induced coma!
This annual event, one of the Scarlet Punchers' highlights, features our often-imitated but never-duplicated Chinese auction.
Free Speech
I feel the need to speak up in regards to the cancellation of Kendall Hemphill's column. I'm neither a liberal nor a conservative, so I feel as though I can speak to the issue with a fresh perspective.

An Original Take on an Old Favorite

Every year at Thanksgiving I’m put in charge of two things: the turkey and the bread. This year I decided to make up some Parker House Rolls, but after I got out the recipe and studied it a few minutes, I remembered why I didn’t make them very often.
An Imperfect World…
This would be a terrible time for the meek to inherit the earth.
However, it would be a sobering time to acknowledge that TV revenue to major university football programs has greatly changed views on what intercollegiate athletics are supposed to be.
It would be great if our nation were swept by a burning desire to claim the oft-quoted line penned by the late Grantland Rice a full century ago….
