Blanco County can feel pretty good about its current economic standing thanks to March sales and tax revenues reported by Texas Comptroller Glenn Hegar. Last month, the county's tax collections were up 6.10 percent. The county earned $29,495.53 compared to $27,797.84 the prior year during the same collection period in 2014. Fun and fellowship were a big part of the Texas Men's State Chili Cook-Off sanctioned by the Chili Appreciation Society International (CASI) in Johnson City this past week, but who boasted the winning recipe was the primary aim as the event returned to the Blanco County Fairgrounds. The Blanco County Sheriff's Office recently issued a press release advising the identification of two suspects in a string of recent thefts of United States Mail. Cody Calder, 22 of Blanco, was arrested on February 6, 2015 on an outstanding warrant by Blanco Police. The arrest warrant was obtained by Blanco County Sheriff's Investigator, Sgt.
The Blanco County 4-H Jr Horse Judging Team and the Johnson City FFA Horse Judging Team started spring break by attending the Houston Horse Judging Contest in Katy Texas on March 9, 2015. This contest is one of the largest contest in the nation with over 750 contestants this year. Our kids did an amazing job this year representing Blanco County 4H and Johnson City FFA.
Officers from the US Marshall Service, Lone Star Task Force and Austin PD make entry to a room at Hill Country Inn where an Arizona fugitive was expected to be. The wanted man was not in the room.
On Tuesday, March 17, 2015 Johnson City Police Department was notified by the United States Marshall Service in reference to a wanted fugitive that was believed to be in Johnson City. The wanted fugitive Michael David Bjornstad was wanted out of Maricopa County Arizona on ten counts of Sexual Exploitation of Minors. It was believed that the fugitive was at the Hill Country Inn, room # 17.
Both the Johnson City and the Johnson City Independent School District (JCISD) have called an election for Saturday, May 9 and both entities will feature contested elections. Jeffrey Bous was arrested following an incident that took place in Round Mountain on March 12, according to Sgt. Ben Ablon of the Blanco County Sheriff's Department. Ablon said Blanco Sheriff's received a call at about 10 p.m. that evening regarding a disturbance on Anderson Lane in Round Mountain. "The caller reported that the suspect, who the caller knew, had set a fire and was now attempting to break into the caller's residence,"
