On Friday, June 28, a ribbon cutting ceremony was held to commemorate the opening of the Barrel House, located at 101 E. Main St. in Llano. The building is previously known as Main Street Affairs. The Barrel House brings an experience unique to Llano and its visitors by offering a relaxing lounge where guests can enjoy popular Texas craft beers, choose from over 90 wines, and in two months, have the opportunity to sip their choice of liquor, cocktail or mixed drink.

Friday night at the John L Kuykendall Arena, a near record-breaking crowd made its way to Llano for a special night of Barrel Racing. Put on by Se`Vette Early and her husband Sam, the event began to grow larger as the time came, first 120 racers, then on Thursday it was up to 140, and by the time the race began, there were 178 barrel racers entered.
The Rock’N Riverfest will be this Saturday, July 6, at Badu Park on the Llano River. If you come, you will have a great time. For the kids, there will be an area with multiple rides from 10:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. A $10 wrist band is required to experience the rides.
The Kingsland Masonic Lodge # 1424 invited Commissioner Mike Sandoval to attend their Lodge dinner July 1 prior to the start of their monthly meeting, where they presented the Commissioner, who is on the Board of Directors of the Kingsland Boys & Girls Club, a check for $1,000 toward the Kingsland Club summer meals program.
Miss Samantha Coffey, daughter of Sean and Norma Coffey, has earned the prestigious title of the 2019 National American Miss Texas Jr. Teen at the state pageant held June 17, 2019. The first thing on the agenda for the Council was discussion and possible action regarding Change Orders to the street paving project and direction to staff regarding paving project completion options. These Change Orders are to address issues that came up during the process of the work. The City of Llano experienced large amounts of rain during this process, which caused many of the streets to deteriorate to worse conditions than when the project was designed.
The LHS Hall of Fame Nomination Committee has begun the process of choosing several individuals, a humanitarian, and a team of the year for 2019. An emerging artist has come to Llano and brought her one-woman business with her—handcrafted quality lingerie. Born in Long Island, Larissa spent her childhood at a soap and lingerie shop. Her artistic talent began to shine through her painting. After going to fashion design school at Fashion Institute of Technology, she began using her creativity and eye for fashion by working as a head designer at Komar, a licensing company for sleepwear.

Summertime is here, school is out, and many of our residents are needing or wanting a vacation or to simply leave town for a few days. Here are a few crime prevention tips that can assist you in having a great vacation and returning to your safe and secured home.
The Llano Lions Club is currently registering Sporting Clays shooters to participate in their inaugural “Sporting Clays for a Cause, Presented by Arrowhead Bank” to be held Saturday, August 17. This event will be the major fundraiser for the club in 2019 and net proceeds from the event will support the club’s scholarship program (“The Cause”).
The event will be held on the beautiful and historic Inks Ranch, one of the most scenic and historic ranches in Texas.

The Llano City Shelter is in dire need of foster homes for small dogs, and a foster home for a beautiful mama and her three puppies that she gave birth to while at the shelter. Even if you can’t be their forever home, you can save their lives by fostering an animal in need.
Travis County Tax Assessor-Collector and Voter Registrar, Bruce Elfant, discussed increasing voter registration and turnout at the June 27 luncheon and meeting of the Highland Lakes Democratic Women.
Elfant told the group that in the 2014 midterm elections, only 27% of registered voters cast a ballot. In contrast, 60% voted in the 2018 midterms.

Patricia Ann Williams, 75 of Kingsland, Texas passed away on June 26, 2019. She was born on August 20, 1943 in San Antonio, Texas to Elbert William and Ruby Wilma (Wilson) Young. Pat grew up in San Antonio and graduated from Jefferson High School. She learned to be a bookkeeper while working with her mom at Clean Air Heating and Air in San Antonio.
