The Hill Country CattleWomen will begin their new year with the Administrative Committee hosting.  The meeting will be held September 15, 2015 at the Hanger Hotel/Convention Center, located at the Airport in Fredericksburg.  The cost of the meal will be $18.00.  The Social Hour will begin at 10:00 am, with the meeting and lunch to follow.
On Saturday, August 29, 2015, Llano County military veterans are invited to come out to Inman’s BBQ from 11am to 3pm to meet Douglas Reitenga, Veteran WRAP Coordinator for Llano County. Bring proof of veteran status (ID Card, VA Card, DD-214, etc.) and you will receive a ticket for 10% off your meal and your family’s meal.
Another door swung open for Kayla LaVonne Overstreet on Saturday evening. A very important door. The 20-year daughter of John and Deborah Overstreet and Aimee and Bo Shannon was among more than 20 students to receive cosmetology degrees during commencement services for the Ranger College School of Cosmetology this past weekend.
Llano Tea Party is electing officers for the coming year and celebrating its fifth birthday at the September 3 meeting to be held at The American Legion Hall in Llano. Social time begins at 6:00 p.m. with a buffet meal being served at 6:30 p.m. A full slate of officers and steering committee has been nominated and additional nominations will be accepted from the floor during the September meeting.
Descendants and friends of Frank and Mary Rhoades had its annual fish fry and reunion on August 8, 2015 at the Llano American Legion Hall. We are grateful for the use of this wonderful building. I can’t believe another year has come and gone, but here I am trying to get the news out.
The Llano Uplift Archeological Society will hold its next meeting on August 12, at 7pm at the Nightengale Archeological Center in Kingsland. Dan Prikryl, the LCRA Cultural Resources Manager, will speak about archaeological investigations the LCRA staff has conducted at LCRA's proposed Lane City Reservoir Project in Wharton County, Texas. Twenty new archaeological and historical sites were recorded and assessed in the in 2,300 acre project area in 2013.
The St. John Lutheran Community Association of Crabapple, Texas (Gillespie County) will hold its Annual Business Meeting on Sunday, August 16, 2015, at 2:30 p.m. at the Sunday School Building in Crabapple. Discussion of the Annual Homecoming Worship service planned for Sunday, September 27, 2015, will be an agenda item along with any new business that may come before the meeting.
Members of the Hill Country TX Sheep & Goat Raisers Auxiliary met in Mason to approve the budget for the next year. Workers were eager to sign up for Farm and Ranch Days at LBJ Ranch Oct. 6, 7 & 8, the Food and Wine Festival Oct 24 as well as the 47th Annual Wool and Mohair Fashion Show October 27th.
The Castell Community Club will have their monthly meeting August 15, 2015, at 1:00 PM. There will be a very short meeting with collection of dues. The club always welcomes old and new members and dues are $10.00 a person. Guest are welcome to come and enjoy visiting with friends and enjoy the games, also.
Because the TV Broadcast of the Republican Presidential Forum and Debate on FOX will occur on our normally scheduled meeting night the Steering Committee has agreed that our August 6 meeting should be canceled. Many of our members, supporters and others will be wanting to watch this important first debate.
