In San Antonio, 45-year-old Kelley Ranae Jones was sentenced to three years in federal prison for stealing over $900,000 from her employer, Arrowhead Bank in Llano, announced U.S. Attorney John F. Bash and FBI Special Agent in Charge Christopher Combs.
U.S. District Judge Xavier Rodriguez sentenced Jones to the prison term followed by five years of supervised release and ordered that she pay $905,372.49 in restitution to the bank.

On Wednesday, March 27, 25-year-old Brandon Michael Jacque was shot and killed by a Burnet police officer in the 300 block of S. McNeil St. in Burnet. According to a statement given by Burnet Police Chief Paul Nelson later that morning, the Burnet Police Department received a dispatch in reference to a loud music call.

And just like that, the 30th annual Llano Crawfish Open has come and gone, leaving behind one of the largest Friday nights in recent history. Team Roping began on Thursday, along with a special Opportunities Golf Contest at the City of Llano Golf Course. But Friday was the day it really kicked off at Robinson Park located two miles west of town, and it ended up larger than anyone ever predicted.
The Llano Special Olympians travelled to Vandegrift High School to participate in the Area Special Olympics Track meet on April 27, 2019. Llano was well represented with 12 athletes from all campuses in the district participating each in one field event and one track event. They trained for seven weeks prior to their competition.
More than 700 athletes participated in the Track and Field Competition.
For 27 years the Llano Special Opportunities Center has held a golf contest for persons receiving services through the Hill Country MHDD. This event is to celebrate the Llano Crawfish week. The Llano Crawfish Organization has provided much needed funding and support for the center for 29 years. “We will always remember the Beaumont connection; a group of extra fine individuals who helped start the Llano Crawfish Open in 1989,” said Jerry Land of Llano Special Opportunities.

Austin—The Senate Education committee gave the public its first look at that chamber's proposal for sweeping education finance reform on Thursday, April 25. The bill would include property tax relief, a teacher pay raise, and funding provisions aimed at making the system more equitable and effective. Committee chair and Friendswood Senator Larry Taylor says the plan focuses resources on those students that need the most help.
