AUSTIN—Only a month is left for lawmakers to get the state’s business done in the 86th regular session of the Texas Legislature. Still unfinished are the issues at the top of a list shared by Gov. No matter the location, people need help meeting their needs or the needs of their family, and often times have nowhere to turn. The Community Resource Center recognizes this and works hand in hand with agencies to assist those in need. In the spring of 2005, the first CRC (then known as the Seriff Foundation) opened in Marble Falls, Texas, which is now the organization’s headquarters.
You may soon receive an appraisal notice from the Llano Central Appraisal District. The appraisal district will mail about 25,000 appraisal notices on May 1, 2019. Your city, county, school district and other local taxing units will use the appraisal district’s value to set your 2019 property taxes. Under Texas law, county appraisal districts are required to notify property owners about changes in their property’s value.
This year’s Llano County Beef & Range Field Day is set for Tuesday, May 28. Registration will begin at 7:30 a.m. at the John L. Kuykendall Arena & Events Center, located at 2200 Ranch Road 152, about 1.7 miles west of Llano. The program will begin promptly at 8:30 a.m. and there is no charge to the participant.
The Lower Colorado River Authority Transmission Services Corporation (LCRA TSC) has developed a proposed plan to minimize potential impacts of power transmission line construction and maintenance across 241 Texas counties on 22 federally listed endangered species of birds, reptiles, amphibians, invertebrates and a mammal, and one non-listed lizard species. LCRA TSC is a significant electricity provider in Texas.
On Friday, May 3, at 9 a.m. a check for the High-Demand Job Training Grant will be presented at River City Grill, located at 700 1st St., Marble Falls. The Texas Workforce Commission (TWC) has awarded Workforce Solutions Rural Capital Area (WSRCA) in collaboration with Workforce Network, Inc., and the Marble Falls, Burnet, and Llano Economic Development Corporations (EDCs) a $52,500 High-Demand Job Training grant.
To sit in the courtroom of the Supreme Court of the United States and watch the nine justices in action is one thing. To sit in the courtroom and watch the justices in action when the issue is about freedom of information and the public’s right to know in America is a privilege. It was on April 22 that I witnessed the Supreme Court hear oral arguments in the case of Food Marketing Institute v.
The Commissioners heard from Daniella Scott, Recovery Coordinator, and Jack Doebbler, District Coordinator for the Texas Division of Emergency Management, concerning how FEMA will help Llano County after the flood of October 2018.  Scott explained how repairs would be grouped together into projects.  Once the projects are formulated according to actual repair costs, FEMA will step in and assign a team to work with Llano officials.
The School Board opened their meeting on April 22 by recognizing two students. Abby Machuga was awarded a Certificate of Bravery for her heroic acts when her house caught fine the morning of March 12. Superintendent Mac Edwards said, “Abby Machuga is a wonderful young woman that has had a tough freshman year.

There is Good Friday, the day Jesus was crucified and died, and then the glorious Sunday morning when He arose from the grave, the Lamb and Savior of the world, claiming victory over death.
