The School Board opened their meeting on April 22 by recognizing two students. Abby Machuga was awarded a Certificate of Bravery for her heroic acts when her house caught fine the morning of March 12. Superintendent Mac Edwards said, “Abby Machuga is a wonderful young woman that has had a tough freshman year.

AUSTIN—After finding more than 18 species of fish during a recent sampling trip on the Llano River, the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department's Inland Fisheries staff are encouraged to see fish populations rebounding following historic flooding in October 2018. “In 2018 the Llano River was greatly affected by a 100-year flood that significantly altered its fish habitat,” said John Botros, TPWD River Access Program Coordinator.
On Saturday May 4, the Spring Limited Bulk Collection event will take place at the Llano County Annex located at 8347 RR 1431 (1431 and 29 – Fuzzy’s Corner), celebrating a 9-year effort to create a cleaner, more beautiful environment for all of Llano County. In 2010, a small group of concerned residents met to discuss the feasibility of a household waste collection event.
The month of April already has been a busy one for the Highland Lakes Democratic Women. On April 10 the Executive Committee held its quarterly meeting at Mojo’s Coffee in Marble Falls. Fundraising for both the organization’s scholarship fund and for its political action committee was the main topic of discussion.
