JOHNSON CITY—The visit here for a tournament, March 4-5, turned out better than the opening game on the new diamond—more on that later. On January 1, Texas became the 45th state in the nation to legalize the “open carry” of a handgun. This came about due to House Bill 910, which passed last year during the 84th legislative session. The new law expands the scope of a license to carry a concealed handgun to include the ability to carry it in plain sight, so long as the gun is holstered.

Creekside Conservation Program helps agricultural landowners implement land and water conservation practices
AUSTIN, Texas — The Lower Colorado River Authority has received a $412,100 federal grant to help private agricultural landowners preserve and protect their land for future generations. Almost $10 million worth of road repairs in the Austin area to begin
AUSTIN – The Texas Department of Transportation is moving ahead with a series of projects to increase mobility and safety along the highways after the Texas Transportation Commission recently awarded contracts for work in the Austin District. Several resurfacing projects for roads across the area are expected to begin later this spring.
Despite protests from seven Kingsland residents, the Commissioners Court voted to approve moving the Precinct 3 offices from their current location to the East County Annex, located five miles from where the offices are now located.
