56 years ago, Universal Studios released To Kill a Mockingbird, now considered one of America’s greatest films. The classic movie will be shown Wednesday February 20 at 7:00 p.m. to kick off classic movie night at the Odeon theater in Mason.
Critics and movie fans still rave about the movie and anyone who has seen it will recommend it.

Mason High School graduate and author, Denay Hooks, will be at Market Square (114 Moody St., Mason, Texas) from 11:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 16th. Denay will be selling and signing copies of her newly released book, The Adventures of Bug and Boo - Under the Sea.
In November Denay published her first children’s book about her children, Hudson (Boo) and Hannah (Bug).
This year CTEC is offering twenty-five $1,000 college scholarships, bringing the combined amount of financial help awarded to area students over the program’s 22-year history to $584,000. Completed scholarship applications must be in the Fredericksburg CTEC office by 5 p.m., Friday, February 22.
In order to be eligible, applicants must attend a recognized Texas institution of higher education in the fall 2019 semester and be considered a full-time student.
Mason Board Seat Has No Incumbent on the Ballot
The March 15 deadline is approaching for Central Texas Electric Cooperative members that are interested in running for a seat on the cooperative’s board of directors. Those members interested in becoming a director candidate at the district meetings in June must meet bylaw requirements, reside in the area served by the cooperative as well as receive electric service in the district where they are seeking to be placed on the ballot.
