Bring on Spring. I am ready for the windy month of March. That just means that we had the carport roof repaired and it is tightly screwed down once more. This has been a worry for several years as the carport is about 38 years old. We are not ready for all the oak leaves to fall.
MCRWC sponsored an evening social mixer at Lea Lou’s on February 16, 2019, from 5:30pm to 8:30 pm for members and guests. Some participants attending this event are pictured from left to right as follows: Joyce Arnold, Annette Thomas, Bob Davee, Barbara Pluenneke, Joanne Davee, and Sabin Nelson. This social event occurs quarterly which enables members who cannot attend the daytime luncheons an opportunity to visit with other members, share ideas, and meet families of members.
The Mason County AgriLife Extension Office will offer 3 CEU’s for those who hold a current private applicator’s license. The CEU’s are required to maintain a license. Extension agent Micah Walker will show several films in the office to assist those who need credits. The date is Wednesday, February 27 from 2 to 5 pm at the AgriLife Extension office located at 505 Moody St.
Popular country singer and musician J. L. Wilkins will perform an all-new show tomorrow night, Thursday, February 21, at 6:30 P.M., in the Stribling Room. Admission is free admission at the Mason Co. M. Beven Eckert Memorial Library, 410 Post Hill St.
The must-hear book on Monday, February 25, introduces the characters Elephant Gerald and his best friend Piggie. Elephant and Piggie books are a series of books written by Mo Willems. In this series, the author combines his understanding of early childhood development with a delightful sense of humor. Mo Willems began his career writing for Sesame Street where he earned six Emmy Awards.
Mason ISD is currently accepting nominations for the Gifted and Talented Program. Nominations will be accepted until 3:30 p.m. on Friday, March 1, 2018. If you would like to nominate your child for the screening/testing process of the Gifted and Talented Program, please go to the Mason Elementary/Junior High Office for the necessary paperwork.

The MCF is now accepting applications for our spring grant cycle. In the past 12 years, the MCF has awarded over 135 grants for a total of $364,000. We have provided grants for upgrades in medical services in our community, area fire departments, school programs, city beautification, and many other areas. February in Texas: Spring days and winter days, 90 degree highs followed by 40 degree highs. The spring like days have been glorious. The winter days are best spent by the fire. The Art United Methodist Church will host lunch for the Habitat Care-A-Vanners on February 26. Bring food to church Sunday.
Hello! I’m Graci Weber. I’m a Duchess on the Mason County Roundup Queen's Court. As many of you know, this year the Queen's Court elected to have a service project. We chose to raise money for the Mason County Senior Nutrition Program. Mason County took over the Senior Nutrition Program in October after government funding was cut.
