The weather has been beautiful for the past several weeks, but around the City we have been dealing with a number of problems and issues. As we have tried to make the public aware through radio and facebook, the City has been experiencing some problems with our water system. The City gets the water that we provide by pumping from five different significant wells, and last week the 50hp pump motor on one of our best producing wells gave up after many years of service.
I hope you had a great Mother’s Day weekend. We celebrated at our house on Sunday. We don’t do elaborate gifts but it was great to have Sunday lunch prepared for me by daughter Tina and granddaughter Amber. It was delicious.
It is officially reunion season. I was putting dates on the calendar.
The Eckert James River Bat Cave Preserve started off the 2017 season with a bang! To be totally honest, it started off with a ssssssssssssssssssss.
As our picture shows, the first group visiting the cave this year experienced a flat tire. The group quickly joined forces and made quick work of changing the tire.

Two.
What a strange little word.
Born out of German zwei.
And Old English twa.
And the Latin duo.
Which means “two.”
So says trusty Webster.
You...and you too.
Equals two.
One more than one.
But both are only one syllable.
Not that there’s anything wrong with one.
The lone wolf.
A solitary oak.
One roadrunner.
Always just one.
Or the sun.
Imagine having two.
One is the number expressing unity.
Forming a whole.
Undivided.
But it can’t be divided evenly.
It takes one to get to two.

The Scholarship Awards Ceremony for the class of 2017 began with a welcome by Chris Habecker.
“To the organizations and individuals who make the scholarship opportunities available, the students, parents, teachers, and community are forever grateful. Thank you for caring enough to make a difference in the lives of our students.
I would like to say a word about these students you see before you.
Mason Youth Baseball and Softball closing ceremonies will be this Thursday, May 25th at 6:30 pm. Come out to the fields and support the youth of our community.
We had a great regular season and our youth exceled against area schools. One highlight of the season I would like to share is from a parent of an area town.
The Mason High School Pioneers, including Brooke Wheelock, Chet Weitz, Ethan Powell, Raegan Glentz, Sloan Townsend, and their teacher, Megan Bierschwale, are in the process of implementing a beneficial water conservation system to help our school, community, and aquifer.
Our mission is to harvest rainwater in a large storage tank, which would be located near the junior high gym.
