The Board of Trustees of MISD met for their regular meeting on February 25, 2019 at the High School Library. Board President Jeff Durst called the meeting to order at 6:00 pm with members Jim Bob Smith, Julio Ramon, Tina Cantu-Navarro, Ryan Jordan, Treg Hudson and Kathryn Martin in attendance.
James R. Edmonson, a member of the Boy Scout Troop #301 in Llano, has earned the honor of Eagle Scout, the highest rank that the Boy Scouts offer. Nation wide, only 3-4% of Boy Scout members ever attain this prestigious honor. James received the Eagle award in a Court of Honor ceremony on January 5, 2019, at the Lutie Watkins First United Methodist Church.
The grant titled “Cars, Circuits, and Chicks - Oh My!” was submitted by our fabulous Elementary science teacher, Kaylee Halamicek. Mason Education Foundation happily funds building a child’s interest in the sciences.

Acting Boss Lion Michael Murphy opened the February 26 meeting of the Mason Lions Club. Lion Mark Nash introduced the speaker, Fran Hoerster, noted local historian in Mason and the Hill Country. Fran made an excellent presentation about life in the 1870’s through the view of stagecoach journeys, generally from Mason to Fort McKavett, with additional background information about the region in general. During the past several months the City staff and City Commissioners have been considering and working toward the goal of providing a beneficial retirement package for several of our long term employees. Our goal was to give all of our employees that are over the age of sixty an option to consider retirement in the near future and at the same time to ease some of the challenges of retiring and providing individual health care and the additional costs of transitioning to a slower lifestyle.
Mason’s Clint Lane recently competed at the San Antonio Livestock Show and Expo’s Junior Shootout. Lane finished 4th in American Trap in Senior 1 Class shooting 97 of his 100 targets earning a buckle and gun for his efforts. Lane also competed in the categories of American Trap and Sporting Clays, taking 12th place in Clays. This year the San Antonio Livestock Show and Expo Junior Shootout had over 1000 entries from all over Texas.

FREDERICKSBURG, Texas — Cody Rahe White, 36, of Johnson City was arrested last week on six outstanding warrants, including one for theft of livestock in Burnet County. The arrest was made Feb. 12, 2019, by Fredericksburg police after they pulled over White for a defective brake light.
