Are you listening? Mitch McConnell, Marco Rubio and Ted Cruz have said it out loud. They intend to cut entitlements...as in social security, Medicare, Medicaid and the Affordable Care Act. Cut them at a time when the ACA is becoming more popular with the public, not less. McConnell said that the failure of the GOP to repeal the ACA is “the one disappointment of this Congress from a Republican point of view.”

If you would have asked me a year ago what I’d be doing today, I probably would have answered with something involving work, school, or sleeping. Instead, I am here today getting lost around the Eiffel tower, watching fireworks at the Palace of Versailles, and having a crepe in the Metro.
Mexican Chocolate Cookies

These are great cookies, nice and soft, and a bit gooey. You and your family or friends will not be able to eat more than 10-12 of these at a sitting, so you may wish to make more than one batch!
Ingredients:
2 ¼ cups all-purpose flour, plus one tablespoon

I have heard about four positive comments on my first column. That’s four more than I expected so I decided to forge ahead. In going through my mother’s house, I came across all of Daddy’s Hungry Horace columns and a book with all of Krazy Kurt’s. Wow, Kurt was actually published!
The program for the Friends of the Library annual membership meeting tomorrow night at 6:30 p.m. includes a presentation by Aileen Roberts, “The Bloody Handprints of Alice Todd: The Legend and the Research.” If you attended her “Women Civil War Spies” program a couple of years ago, you know that this program is bound to be a treat as well.

Recent Flooding Brings Out the Best!!!
Last week, as streams all over the Hill Country continued to rise, I was watching Jim Spencer on KXAN out of Austin. He noted that it was not unusual for any of the rivers in the LCRA service area to flood; but, it was unusual for the Pedernales, the Llano, the San Saba, the Concho and the Colorado to all have flooding situations occurring at the same time.

Outrage
This is an OPEN LETTER to Republican Representative Conaway and Republican Senators Cruz and Cornyn. Republicans created a $2 trillion hole in the federal deficit to fund a tax cut for the rich and a steep cut in corporate taxes. Now Republican leaders are saying the solution to fix their budget shortfall is to cut Medicare, Social Security, and Medicaid.
