I Don't Think Last Week Counts As a Vacation!
As soon as the Rio Texas Annual Conference ended last week, I walked out of the American Bank Center, got in my pickup, and I drove four hours, non-stop, to get back home. In total, I was gone for just under 80 hours.

Silly government, rights are for people
When I turned six years old my parents gave me a tent. I’d been asking for a tent for months, so I was pretty stoked. It was a pup tent, similar to what U.S. soldiers used during World War II. Basically an A-frame with open ends and no floor.
Marriage Vows in Concrete…
I want it clearly understood up front. My wife and I would invite my Uncle Mort and Aunt Maude to church again if they ever visit on a Sunday. We both wish--as does Maude—that Mort’s“monetary-itis” dominating his adult life would loosen its grip on the Lord’s Day.

What a wonderful week. I sit here counting my blessings. First, hubby John finally came home after a hospital stay and rehab stay. It has been 19 long days of running. He is feeling so much better and the doctors think they have found the reason for this last episode.
Ketchup is made of tomatoes. French fries are made from potatoes. Butterflies are made from caterpillars. Frogs are made from tadpoles, and MEMORIES are made from....well, lots of things!! Someone pushed the memory rewind button at the Eckert James River Bat Cave Preserve last week.

Not many months can own up to that.
Let’s see.
There’s April.
That’s a girl’s name.
And May.
Often spelled Mae, as a name.
For instance, Mae West.
C’mon up and see me sometime.
And June.
That’s pretty much it.
Augusta is a close runner-up.
But there’s something a ...
Gettin' All Churchy This Week!
For the last couple of weeks, I've been involved in LOTS of activities at church. In fact, as you read this (depending upon exactly when you read this), I am either on the road heading to a conference in Corpus Christi or I'm already at the American Bank Center attending sessions.
The event is the Rio Texas Annual Conference of the United Methodist Church.
Do I Play Favorites? Kinda!
Ever since I put the length limit back in place on the Letters to the Editor, I've had to endure writer after writer accusing me of being unfair in how I decide who gets published and who does not. Of course, the complaints never actually address whether or not I agree with the author, or with their viewpoint on a topic.
