Hyacinth.
Snowbell.
Daffodil.
Celestial.
Quince.
Narcissus.
(Aka paperwhite.)
These are a few of our favorite things.
And they’re blooming.
Thanks to warmer days.
And more is on the way.
Flowers, that is.
Bluebonnets leafing up and out.
Promises of blooms to come.
Ornamental cherry sitting pretty.
Preparing the pathway to Spring.
Busy birds all about.
Cedar waxwings flying in.
And out.
And in.
And out.
A most remarkable bird.
They stop for water.

When Funerals Come in Threes....
In a small town, just one funeral can be an emotional experience. For the family, for friends, for neighbors... When someone dies in a small town, a large percentage of the population will have known them well.
I suppose that's why this week is a difficult one for so many in our town.
Mason’s Scarlet Punchers, those intrepid women “of a certain age,” who absolutely insist on enjoying life to the fullest, “shared the love” during our Valentines’ fete at the home of Lenore Newsom. By “sharing the love,” I mean that the potluck luncheon was the perfect combination of 9 desserts and 3 entrees, since to us Scarlet Punchers, love equals chocolate.
Recovery
Dear Jerry:
I am recovering from a lengthy back surgery and yesterday, Monday, 3/5 some kind soul left an azalea plant on my porch, but no note. I would like to thank the person who left this. Please called me at 347-2348 so I can properly thank you and we can chat.
Thank you for your thoughtfulness.

Gun Reform
Consider this: Persons killed with guns in mass shootings since 2012: 154
The common denominator of 154Killed/GUNS is one AR-15.
CEO of Dick’s Sporting Goods stated that it was immediately ending sales of all assault-style rifles in its stores and would no longer sell high-capacity magazines and that it would not sell any gun to anyone under 21 years of age, regardless of local laws.
Dick’S is calling on elected officials to enact what is called “common sense gun refo ...
Assault weapons
Dear Editor,
Experts agree; putting more guns on school property in the hands of civilians is not going to make students safer. It definitely would not make the teachers carrying weapons safer. When law enforcement arrives to ‘contain the threat’ how are they supposed to know the difference between a pistol-packing teacher and an armed and dangerous person?
Life
To The Editor:
I am surprised at my experience in Mason. I have lost time, as well as my last dime. I'm hoping for a better future.

No Knead Oatmeal Bread
This is a very interesting bread, from both a texture and a taste standpoint. It’s tender and fluffy, and the combination of the oats and the molasses add a rich and complex flavor. And, best of all, you don’t have to knead it! Mix it up, let it rise, bake it and eat it.
Ingredients:
2 ¾ cups all purpose flour
½ cup rolled oats
2 teaspoons Kosher salt
3 tablespoons shortening at room temperature
1 cup water at 110 to 115 degrees
2 ¼ teaspoons dry ...
