Mason Community Kitchen kicked off its fall season Saturday by making 163 containers of Dee Henrich’s taco soup with beef, beans and vegetables. The frozen containers will be distributed through the food pantry, the senior center, and the local schools. The organization was grateful to receive recent donations of ground beef from Whitworth Ranch, Missy Crocker’s MTXBeef, and the Hill Country CattleWomen.
Jarrett Worrell, a Mason County 4H member, recently exhibited his Hereford cattle at the West Texas Fair in Abilene, TX. Jarrett had really good day when he exhibited his cattle in the Open show. That means that he was competing against other Hereford ranches from across the state. Jarrett was awarded Grand Champion Hereford Female with WORR Borrowed Lace 4988 ET.
Difficult times bring out the most creative and industrious impulses in people. That could not be truer about Cindy Kothmann and the measures she began enacting during a very hot and dry summer that was plagued with crop after crop of grasshoppers. At night, Cindy would go out into her garden with a headlamp on in the evening and pick the grasshoppers off her plants.
Mason resident, Chelsea Fore, has assumed the duties of the Advertising Director of the Mason County News. Originally from Lohn, where she was crowned Miss Heart of Texas, 2008, Fore is the mother of four, three of them in school and one still at home, along with her husband Joshua Fore.

She recently enjoyed spending some quality time with a couple of our volunteers at the city park where her favorite activity was hanging out for tummy rubs! Bubbles is up to date on her vaccinations and is scheduled to be spayed soon.
