A Blanco yearling quarter horse set a world record sale price of $800,000.00 at the Ruidoso Select Yearling Sale last Friday. The colt, First Texas Flash, is sired by First Moon Flash and out of champion mare Stylish Jess BR. He was purchased by West Texas Racing Partners. Julianna Hawn Holt of the Hawn Holt Cross Triangle Ranch in Blanco bred, raised and consigned the yearling colt. “Best sale ever; I’m still in shock,” said Ruidoso Horse Sale general manager Lowell Neumayer.
An event planned for Saturday in Blanco will honor local law enforcement officials and first responders, as well as Texas Rangers. The first-ever Law Enforcement and First Responders Appreciation Ceremony will be held Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Buggy Barn Museum and Pine Moore Town in Blanco.

A shooting in Blanco County on Saturday night left an Army veteran and former Blanco County volunteer firefighter dead and his family in mourning. Donald Boumans, 25, was allegedly shot and killed by his step-father, James “Jim” Mayer Harris Jr., 63, said Chief Deputy Neal Leonard with the Blanco County Sheriff’s Office, on Monday. “The case is still being investigated,” Leonard said.
