J.T. Morgan, who lives along the Blanco River on Lost Acres Loop south of FM 165 bridge crossing, says he saw the beginnings of an algae bloom there two weeks ago that has blossomed into a cover of slime. A full half hour before the funeral last week, the parking lot overflowed and the sanctuary was near capacity. The Blanco Rodeo Association will hold its first Ranch Rodeo rain or shine Saturay, Oct. 13 at Yett Park Arena. Their scheduled Playday is weather-dependent. “We had to cancel the first Playday in September for safety reasons due to rain, and then the rain day was canceled” Jodie Fuchs, event organizer said.
Chris Harbach is a talented song writer with a love for Blanco. She writes about things she knows and experiences from her life. She feels that when she keeps her songs truthful so that each one will find its own finish. Her tunes tell stories that people will enjoy. Kinder Morgan Texas Pipeline (KMTP) is planning a $2 billion pipeline project to transport natural gas from the Permian Basin in west Texas to the Gulf Coast. The company’s current plan calls for the Permian Highway Pipeline project to cross Blanco County with a 42-inch diameter pipeline through a 19.5-mile path that crosses the county north of the city of Blanco and involves crossing the Blanco River east of the city before entering southwestern Hayes County. Organizers of the Wild Game Dinner are looking forward to serving a delicious variety of game to a large crowd this Saturday, Oct. 6, 2018, at the Blanco County Show Barn in Johnson City. Twin Sisters treated patrons to a showing of the Dance Hall Days documentary that received the award for Best Texas Film at the Hill Country Festival in April.
