Gary P. Nunn, who has made a career out of playing Texas Country music, brought the crowds to Twin Sisters Dance Hall Saturday night. Folks came from as far away as Oklahoma, California, New Mexico, Oregon and Massachusetts to join the locals, and Texans from Dallas and Houston to dance the night away.
After 40 years in the Texas music world, Nunn has decided to retire.
Blanco Good Samaritan Center is ready to renovate. With the Emergency Services District No. 2’s move to a new building on Blanco Avenue, the Center will begin transforming that organization’s former quarters on Chandler into its new home. The move will reduce overcrowding and allow for expanded services.
Work will begin July 8 with an all-volunteer group under the able direction of Mike Rieken.

According to media outlets, Bill Wittliff, a celebrated writer, filmmaker and photographer who wrote the screenplay for the iconic 1985 television miniseries “Lonesome Dove” and co-founded a popular archive of Southwestern writers and other artists at Texas State University, died Sunday from a heart attack. He was 79.
Wittliff donated his materials from Lonesome Dove, which won seven Emmys, two Golden Globes and a Peabody Award, to the archive at Texas State.

On the evening of Friday, May 31 hundreds of onlookers in a packed Panther Stadium watched the Blanco High School Class of 2019 cross the stage and receive their diplomas.
