Four candidates vied for three two-year terms on the Blanco City Council.
Current councilmembers Martin Sauceda (106 votes), Martha Gosnell (105 votes) and Tony Vela (100 votes) have been re-elected.
Challenger Susan Moore received 99 votes.
Voter turnout was significantly down from last year’s election for mayor and two councilmember seats, in which 226 residents voted.
Blanco County Emergency Services District No. 2 (BCESD2) met April 26, 2018 with city and county officials and retired ESD No. 2 commissioners to brief them on plans to build a new combined Blanco Volunteer Fire Department (BVFD) and Blanco Emergency Medical Services (EMS) station adjacent to the Blanco Police station on the corner of Blanco Avenue and Jones Road.
The new $2.5 million station will be 14,700 sq ft., with 6,341 sq.
Blanco voters will select three city councilmembers Saturday when the 2018 municipal election takes place.

The Blanco Canoe Race, hosted by the Blanco Boy Scout Troop #497, brought 120 paddlers representing 14 Boy Scout troops from the central Texas region. Troops from Austin, Bastrop, Burnet, Hutto, Marble Falls, Pflugerville, San Marcos and Taylor joined the Blanco troop to camp Friday night, April 27 at Klepac Greenhouses by the Blanco River.

Four candidates have filed for the three council positions, with the election to be held May 5, 2018. The candidates, who were all present, opened the evening with a five-minute introduction and explanation as to why they chose to run for city council.

The Lady Panther softball team clinched the District 25 3-A championship with a 7-4 win over the Johnson City Lady Eagles on Tuesday, April 17 and a 13-9 win against the Florence Lady Buffalo on Friday, April 20.
