Cottonwood Shores/Marble Falls/Horseshoe Bay, TX - The Hill Country Community Theatre announces auditions for the first show of their 2017-18 season, the musical “Senior Moments”, book by Linda Kaufman with Mark A. Lit, music and lyrics by Linda Kaufman. Auditions are Monday, July 24 and Tuesday, July 25 at 7:00 PM at the theatre, 4003 W FM 2147, Cottonwood Shores, TX 78657.
Congratulations to Lori Weirich Frederick and Tracy Tolbert. They were married on June 24 in a double wedding ring ceremony at the Johnson Settlement. Tracy’s sister, who is a judge in Burnet County, officiated. His son, Brennon, was best man and Lori’s daughter, Mikayla Frederick, was maid of honor. Kelsey Heavner, 21, of Johnson City graduated from the Texas Department of Public Safety’s 159th Highway Patrol Training Academy on June 16. She will soon make her move to Odessa where she has been stationed. Her first day on duty will be July 9. “The challenge I look most forward to is [living] out the Texas Highway Patrol mission which is to protect and serve Texas with Respect,” said Heavner. Leroy and Shirley Weirich were married June 2, 1967 and celebrated their golden wedding anniversary on June 3 with a party given in their honor by their children, Rusty and Kim Weirich, Lori Frederick and Tracy Tolbert. The party was at the home of Rusty and Kim.
The community came to show their appreciation for the Johnson City Volunteer Fire Department with a fantastic turnout at the 2017 Annual Fish Fry Fundraiser. Kids’ Lunch Club returns this summer When school is out this summer, the Kids’ Lunch Club will be back to provide free nutritious lunches for children. Originally intended to replace the free or reduced-price school lunch program for low-income kids in the LBJ school district, the program has expanded to include any child who wants to join friends for lunch. Thirty-two people celebrated Christmas/New Year’s at the Pecan Street Brewery on December 29. The group included members of the classes of 1959,1960 and 1961. These folks also celebrate with monthly luncheons held on the last Tuesday of every month. Anyone interested in attending can contact Jim Furber for information.
