Barbara Jean Rodgers, age 90, passed from this life on Thursday, November 4, 2021. Barbara was born on March 9, 1931, in Grit, Texas to Thomas and Marguerette (Cuckler) Westbrook. She had been a resident of McCulloch County since 1993. Barbara married Carlton Dagen in 1947, and they remained together until his passing in 1993.
Kathy Reed Bielfeldt was called home Wednesday, October 27th at the age of 73. Singer, baker, sister, wife, mother, aunt, grandmother, bookkeeper, and nanny are some of the many roles Kathy filled, but scarcely tell you how devoted she was to those she loved in her life. Born November 8, 1947, to William and Geraldine Reed in Beaumont, TX.
Johnny Menchaca, 70, from Mason, Texas, was relieved of his earthly burdens and joys on Friday, October 15, 2021. He was born on the 4th of July 1951 to parents Alfred and Mary Menchaca in Morton, Texas, and was raised in Mason. He was a hard-working man who took his job, whatever it may be, seriously and with confidence.
The Mueller family regrets to inform the community that our precious Omie, mother, and wife has left her earthly home. After suffering complications from COVID-19 virus, she passed peacefully surrounded by her family. Brenda was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She loved cooking for her husband and sons, summer vacations with her grandkids, animals of all kinds, TV shows, her best friend and sister Susi, and her church.
Dan Ryland Priess, 76, of Sunrise Beach, made his Earthly departure on Thursday, October 14, 2021, at the Georgetown Hospital after a courageous battle with Parkinson’s. A resilient, magnificent, and loving man, husband, father, bronco rider, and former rancher, Dan was nicknamed ‘Cowboy Dan’ later in life. Dan was born September 20, 1945 in Brady, Texas, to parents Perry Priess and Frances Haler Priess and raised in Mason.
Betty Ruth Brown was born November 17, 1938, to L.D. and Jesse Scheussler in Mason, Texas. She was 82. She is survived by three sons, Donald Gibson, Tim Gibson, Layton Larry Brown Jr., and one daughter, Shauna Lyons; eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and three nieces. She was preceded in death by her sister Lois Terry and her brother Kenneth Don Scheussler. Carla White, Anna Cochran, Candee Willman, and Billie Potter were her nieces. Mickey Dean Leifeste passed away August 14, 2021. He was born on September 18, 1944 in Mason, Texas. He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Mamie Leifeste; sisters, Janice Kay Leifeste, Karlynda Leifeste, and Wanda Steen; brother, Jim Knox, Buck Knox, and twin brother, Dickey Gene Leifeste; and beautiful niece, Melanie Glocar. Janice Kay Leifeste passed away on August 3, 2021. She was born on March 25, 1943 in Mason, Texas. She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Mamie Leifeste; sisters, Karlynda Leifeste and Wanda Steen; brothers, Jim Knox, Buck Knox and Dickey Gene Leifeste; and beautiful niece, Melanie Glocar.
Loma Lee Surber went to be with the Lord September 27, 2021. Her grandson, Mason Surber, was by her side when she passed. Loma was born September 25, 1932, in Mason County, Texas, to Leo and Jewel Starks. On July 23, 1949, Loma married her best friend, J.C. Surber. Loma was a devoted member of First Baptist Church of Sonora.
Jack Ellis Bush, of Ralls Texas, born November 28, 1955, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, September 19, 2021. Jack is survived by the love of his life, Debbie Stout, and his loving daughter Jennifer Bush; brother, Kelly Bush and daughter Caitlyn Bush of Belfair, Washington; sister Georgia Baldwin and husband Albert, of Port Orchard, Washington; and nephews Michael Harris, Johnathan Harris and Matthew Harris.
