1 Hour Soft and Buttery Dinner Rolls
Sheila came across this recipe while cruising the internet, and she thought it sounded perfect for The Practical Baker. Simple, straight-forward, quick, and fast. I tried it and the resulting rolls were an absolute delight, and will become a regular guest at our dinner table.

Who got Gavle’s goat?
My great grandfather emigrated from Sweden to America on a cattle boat, so I’ve always been kind of interested in Swedish stuff. I’m not excessive about it – I’ve never traveled to Sweden, or actually done any research or anything, but if I happen to see a news story about Sweden I might read it.
World-Class Commuters…
One invites correction when declaring folks to be champions of anything.
I learned this lesson 60 years ago as the editor of a small-town newspaper, when a local farmer lugged in “the county’s largest watermelon.”
It looked like a record-setter to me; I snapped a picture for the next edition. Within hours of publication, several other farmers appeared--each proclaiming his melon to be larger.

Spring Is Bustin' Out All Over...
The Rodgers & Hammerstein classic musical, Carousel, has one of my favorite Broadway songs. The residents of the little New England town featured in the play have finally welcomed the warmer days of summer, and they burst into a dancing and singing frenzy, proclaiming, "June is bustin' out all over...."
They lament how April had seemed to be the end of winter; but, never quite made it.
There is a growing trend in the pet industry for pet sitters to care for pets in the comfort of their familiar environment—their own home! Pet owners (pet parents) are looking for trustworthy care and peace of mine for their pets when they are away from home.
Pet sitter organizations today are nationwide and international.
Gerry,
The times I’ve written letters to the editor can be counted on one hand with fingers left over. After reading the March 14 issue, I felt compelled to write regarding Jane Zesch’s final column & your column.
I was moved by both. Having two to three hundred funeral/memorial services in my pastoral career, I encouraged people to do what you suggested & what Jane did.
Integrity
Some scholars think that mankind invented language for the purposes of deception. They believe that a persons true nature and intentions can be revealed solely by their actions, no words needed. There have been lots and lots of words flying around lately pertaining to the upcoming elections in the city of Mason.

As those of you who regularly read this column know, 95% of the recipes I share with you are recipes that I’ve collected (borrowed/stolen?) over the years from friends, relatives, cook books and the internet. I always try to give credit to the person or organization that supplied me with the recipe.
