The Ceynowa household has been at war with a million worms that decided to take up residence in our trees and plan attacks on us when we walk under any tree. At least a dozen will come down to greet us on tiny spider web strings. They crawl all over you.

High Adventure
People sometimes ask which of my outdoor adventures was the most fun. I get the impression they think the life of an outdoor humor columnist is glamour and glitz pretty much all the time, but that’s not the case. Sometimes it’s glitz and glamour, and sometimes it’s just glamour with no glitz.
What Happened to All Our Frogs?
One of my ranch neighbors grew up in Mason and spent most of his summers working and playing on his family’s ranch. He left Mason County for his career, but returned in recent years and now manages that ranch. He recently asked me, “What happened to all our frogs?” When I probed him for the basis of his question, he explained.
Boy…Last weekend was an amazing example of one of the things that makes Mason special! We had such a wonderful response to our Mason Arts & Wine Festival. My heart was filled with hope and pride as I saw how many visitors we had. There were also several fundraisers in town for families in need, and I love to see the support we give each other at such times.
I guess the title is no surprise to most everyone living here. But what makes this area so unique? The Hill Country makes up about half of the larger ecoregion known as the Edwards Plateau. The Edwards Plateau stretches from just north of San Antonio to as far north as Palo Pinto County just south of Ft Worth and from Austin and Waco in the east to the Pecos River on the west, an area of 36,680 square miles, or about 14% of the state of Texas.

Dill Scones - Courtesy: Martha Nayers
I enjoy scones. They seem to fill the gap between a dinner rolls and biscuits quite nicely. I think you will find these to be tasty and easy to make with items you normally keep in your pantry. Ingredients: 2 cups flour ¼ cup chopped, fresh dill (if you don't have any fresh dill, use 3-4 teaspoons of dried dill) 2 teaspoons baking powder ½ teaspoon salt ¼ teaspoon pepper 4 tablespoons very cold butter ¾ cup milk, plus 1 tablespoon, divided Process: Preheat oven to 350 ...
Bacon Wrapped Beef Tenderloin Bites
I’m LOVING the warmer weather, even if it is only every other day. The warmer weather also puts me into the “grilling” mood. These can be done in the oven or on the grill. This is my absolute favorite recipe, now. My husband couldn’t get enough of these. He’s kind of hard to please, too, when it comes to food.
"Hey, Jesus, wake up! There is a storm going on. We're right in the middle of it — and we are scared to death! Wake up, Jesus! Wake up and help us!" That is a scene from the Gospel of Mark (4:35-41). Caught in a sudden, fierce storm on the Sea of Galilee, the frightened disciples try to wake up the serenely sleeping Jesus. Their efforts are successful.
