The First Baptist Church of Mason is thrilled to offer a weekend of spiritual and marital renewal led by John Taylor, a certified family therapist and Biblical counselor. This Marriage Retreat will take place at the Baptist Church on Friday, February 14th and Saturday, February 15th. Meals and childcare will be provided.
As a pastor of a growing church in a small community, I have rarely taken the opportunity to write an article for the paper. There have been occasions where I have witnessed or experienced situations that have urged me to publicly engage the community outside of the pulpit of the First Baptist Church of Mason.
Here are some thoughts on important events in life that happen very quickly. We anticipate and plan for the birth of a child, but the actual event happens quickly. Look at the wedding story in Matthew 25. Some of the wedding attendants were ready for the banquet and some were not. When the bridegroom arrived, only the attendants who were ready went in with him to the wedding banquet.
Emanuel Martinez, a May 2018 graduate of Mason High School, was known as ‘E-man’ during his Puncher days! He enlisted in the military upon graduation. Recently, he graduated from Marine Corps MCRD, San Diego, CA. Through his 13 week “Boot Camp”, he was attached to Delta Co., Platoon # 1066. This is for the little girl who was waiting for the Easter egg hunt to start in Mason, Texas, last spring. I was sitting on the steps of the courthouse, expecting my granddaughters. It was a lovely day, with lots of colorful eggs scattered on the grounds. The little girl was with a group of adults and other kids, family I supposed.
Please make plans to attend "The Journey to Bethlehem" Drive Thru Christmas Luminary, presented by the youth of St. Paul Lutheran Church. The 2018 Christmas Luminary is set for December 9 at Fort Mason City Park. The time is 6:30 - 7:30 p.m. Admission is free. A backup date of December 16 is being reserved if the need arises. Come be a witness to this beautiful rendition of the Christmas story.
The First United Methodist Church will host its second advent luncheon on December 12 from noon until 1:00 to celebrate "A Joyous Christmas" season. A short devotional time will be presented by Emily Hicks, and the singing of traditional Christmas carols will be led by Dorothy Asbill and musician Marilyn Kahan.
St. Paul Lutheran Church will present "The Journey to Bethlehem" Drive Thru Christmas Luminary on December 9 at Fort Mason City Park. The time set is 6:30 - 7:30 p.m. Admission is free.
