Over the bounding Visa card
Back when I was a little kid, and people would ask me what I wanted to be when I grew up, I would usually offer the normal, expected kid answers. I would say I wanted to be a fireman or a doctor or the guy who sits in that little room behind the ATM and sticks the money through the slot.
Shutters Closed on Red Light Cameras…
Attention drawn to “red light cameras” has a broadened focus in Dallas. Some “Big D” traffic signals--designed to be effective for 25 years--have been in service since 1940, with almost all in use since 1980.
If tell-tale cameras had been that old, there’d have been black-hooded photographers straddling elevated supports trying to apply matches to magnesium at precisely the right moment to provide lighting for incriminating photos of lawbr ...
Welcome Summer. We have had a few hot days. This is most likely a preview of the weather to follow for several months. I am totally comfortable at 70 to 76 degrees. This is not my best time of year. It is often out of my temperature range at night and always out of range during the day.
Somewhere it’s five o’clock.
And somewhere it’s NOT 90 degrees.
Wonder where that is…
Possibly the other side of the world.
Since it’s Winter in the Southern Hemisphere.

Australia.
New Zealand.
In the Andes.
Patagonia.

Just saying it cools yo ...

Scientists tell us that no one has ever experienced a world as hot as the one we now inhabit. On a global basis, last year was the warmest year on record, with systematically recorded surface temperatures being taken since 1880.

An Open Letter to Our Reps in Congress
I am a constituent in small-town west Texas that votes Independent, although these days I’m trending Democrat. The Republican Party has lost its way.
I just contacted Senator Cornyn to ask him to please remove the phrase ‘Protecting Our Values’ from his fundraising website.
Homemade Cinnamon Rolls – A Bread Machine Recipe
courtesy: thrivinghome.com
I’ve made cinnamon rolls more ways than a dog can chew a bone, but every time I see a new recipe for them, I just have to try it. I was particularly interested in this one, since it took the dough-making process out of my hands and put it into the tender care of a bread machine.

Dad
The dark winter sky seemed to press down on us, threatening snow, stiffening our fingers and invading our lungs with every breath. We’d been walking for a couple of hours, and night wasn’t far off. We were headed back toward the pickup, with little chance of making it before we ran out of the dingy daylight.
