Mayor Martha Herden announced that the city has been awarded services by the Texas Water Development Board to provide a comprehensive water and wastewater asset management plan.
The award, valued at $75,000, will provide the funds for the city to work with TWDB pre-qualified contractors to create the plan.
“The plan will include identification and inventory of all the city’s water and wastewater locations, connections and pipes,” Mayor Herden said.
The Old Blanco County Courthouse Preservation Society has launched a capital campaign to raise funds for two major restoration projects. They are seeking contributions to repair and replace the two staircase bannisters and repair windows to protect against water penetration.

The County’s South Annex 2,700 sq. ft. project is nearing completion and will open to the public in February. The annex is located at 402 Blanco Ave.
The Annex will house the Justice of the Peace, Precinct 4, Bob Riley and staff. In addition, there will be part-time offices for the County Clerk and Tax Assessor Collector as well as space for state and local law enforcement, the County Attorney and Adult Community Supervision.

The location of the incident was Cypress Mill Road in northeast Blanco County and is believed to have occurred the second week of January.

Anyone interested in stepping back in time, when Texas was a land of many trails linking outlying areas with settlements and the only transportation in those early days was by horse, mule or oxen, can join the Hill Country Trail Ride this weekend. Paths formed by the repetitive use of settlers became trails ridden to drive livestock to market and settlers rode the trails around the area into Blanco.
Historic dance halls in the area were often destinations along the trails.
