Mason’s Scarlet Punchers, those intrepid women “of a certain age,” who absolutely insist on enjoying life to the fullest, are happy to report that April’s “field trip,” (literally!) to the home of Kacey Butcher, was a huge success. Meaning we made it up her driveway! I mean! No - the wildflowers, like the hospitality AND the white bean chili, were picture-perfect.
Soft Molasses Cookies

If you’ve been paying attention only to news that is actually somewhat relevant and pertinent lately, provided you’ve been able to find any, you might have missed a fantastic little tidbit out of Los Angeles last week. A couple of knotheads climbed the globe at Universal Studios and Super Glued themselves to it.
Doing the Right Thing…
In wildest dreams, it never occurred to me that one day I’d write a piece referencing three bigger-than-life personalities. This day, I am.
Two of the three are valued friends whose names are well-known in Texas, and the third I’ve never met.
There’s nothing gained by keeping readers in suspense (as if I ever do), but here’s the trio: Dr.
Welcome May. Do you remember May Day festivals at school when we danced around the may pole? This involved the tether ball pole and lots of crepe paper. Some years we had costumes. Merry weather for that with a feather.
Nest-building madness abounds.
Lizards languish in the sun.
Snapping turtles and armadillos.
Usually smashed on the road.
May, May, May.

- Don't lie.
- Share with others.
- Always be polite and respectful.
- Take responsibility for your own actions.
The lies were always the easiest to get caught doing.
The Wolf Whistle
One afternoon some time ago I was coming out of Lowe’s grocery, carrying two big jugs of tea when I heard a piercing Wolf Whistle, splendidly done. Now Wolf Whistles come in varying levels of quality, from the beginning sophomore to the New Jersey construction worker or a Marine.
